Christine Daae peered out her window in the cold opera house. It was raining heavily and she was very lonley. Her night Candle was almost out and the last shadows danced and then broke into millions of tears. She stayed up a bit longer and then fell asleep just as the flame went out...

Silently atalking the corridors and hall ways, Madame Giry sensed a presence. She looked over her shoulder to see Erik appear from behind a tapestry. A white porcelain mask concealed half of his visage, suggesting something austere.
"Erik..." She called, seeing him head toward Christine's room. He recoiled and drew back into the shadows with the stealth of a cat.

Chritine lay deep in sleep. She was very tired from dancing the afternoon, even though she was about an hour late for practice. She was awakened by the suden light in her room. There were candles lit, and she was sure that she didn't light them herself. SHe knew she went to bed with blowing them out. SHe looked around searching for Meg, who might have been playing a trick on her... but there was no one, at least no one she could see, but perhaps someone who could see her...

Erik had defied the warning of Mme. Giry, and snuck into Christine's dressing room. He laid a small red rose on the table beside her bed and slowly disappeared into the mists.

Christine had a small breakfast and went back to her room. She was all smiles when she woke up and found the rose next to her. She knew that her Angel Of Music was once again watching over her and longed to have a visit from him. She felt his presence and saw him in a dream last night. She loved him in ways unexplainable. He was her protector her friend, a companion.
Meg burst in "Christine ma'ma is looking for you. You have a letter.

From behind a partition in Christine's wall, Erik watched Meg's swarthy body move swiftly to his beloved pupil's side and hand her a letter. He watched Christine lay her rose down and read the letter eagerly. Then, he heard the approaching footsteps of Moncharmin, one of the managers, and he fled into the recess of the wall. Waiting.

Monsieur Moncharmin entered her dresssing room and beckoned Meg out. She left and Moncharmin sat down.
"I hate to start off on a bad foot..." he began, "But, I must say. Your performance last night during the opera was atrocious. You were not paying the LEAST attention!"
